Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) cleared the roads and footpaths of Newmarket, one of the busiest areas of the capital.
The operation was conducted on Saturday (June 1).
DMP Traffic Ramana Division. Zainul Abedin said that this operation is going on to normalize traffic. As part of the campaign, legal action has been taken against those who illegally occupied the road from Newmarket Crossing to Dhaka College and from Gauchia Market to Bata Signal and created traffic jams and cleared the road.
He also said that passengers and pedestrians traveling in the Newmarket area expressed their satisfaction with the police action. As per the instructions of the DMP Commissioner, this campaign against the illegal occupants of the roads will continue.
