Situation in Gopalganj is normal: ISPR

The Inter-Services Public Relations Department (ISPR) said that in connection with the recent attack on an army patrol in Gopinathpur of Gopalganj’s Sadar Upazila, additional troops have been deployed there and the situation is normal. It is also said that the army is always on the side of the people and will remain so.

ISPR informed this in a press release on Sunday (August 11).

Highlighting the activities of the army to control the law and order situation in the country, the circular said, the number of camps of the Bangladesh Army has been increased to provide overall security of public life and property and important government facilities. On Saturday (August 10) in Gopinathpur, Sadar Upazila of Gopalganj, in view of the attack on the army patrol team by protesters. Additional troops have been deployed in the area and the situation is normal.

Among the notable activities, on Sunday (August 11), the army rescued four Japanese nationals by controlling the protest of job aspirants in EPZ located in Narayanganj. In addition, the army has been deployed in 537 police stations to assist the Bangladesh Police and the normal operations of the police stations have started. A significant number of policemen are already joining the duty, which is ongoing. Also, arms and ammunitions looted in various incidents are being handed over to the army by the general public. Also, the number of robberies in various areas has reduced compared to earlier and the arrested have been directly sent to jail through the operation of mobile courts.

Army operations are underway to recover missing persons in abduction cases at several places.

Apart from this, medical care is being provided to the seriously injured persons in the agitation at CMH, Dhaka. Day-night joint patrols are conducted as part of the Army’s ongoing operations to control the law and order situation, particularly nighttime joint patrols have been strengthened.

Recently, various social media are spreading news with a combination of truth and falsehood to create confusion about the activities of army personnel. In this regard, the public is requested to stop all kinds of misinformation.

Bangladesh Army is and will always be with the people for the benefit of the people and for any need of the state. At the same time, everyone is being requested to cooperate with the Bangladesh Army in carrying out its duties properly.
