If someone extorts money in the name of BNP, hand it over to the police: SM Jahangir

own reporter

BNP’s nominated ex-parliamentary candidate and Jubo Dal leader SM Jahangir Hossain has called on those involved to be handed over to the police if anyone commits extortion-encroachment-misdeeds in the name of BNP. Today (Wednesday) announced zero tolerance against extortion and occupation in a press conference in Uttara of the capital.

SM Jahangir said in a conference organized at his residence in Uttara Sector 9 in the afternoon, I want to say in an unequivocal language – organizationally, my team and personally I adopt zero tolerance policy against all kinds of wrongdoing, extortion, usurpation. If anyone wants to do anything wrong using the team or my name, immediately inform the law enforcement agencies.

Earlier, SM Jahangir protested against the news published in online portals of some newspapers against him recently and said that it is noticed that two or three newspapers have published reports mentioning the fictitious incidents of extortion and usurpation in Uttara. Unfortunately my name is included there. Which is very sad, untrue and baseless.

He said, since August 6, I have personally assisted the army and other forces to maintain the law and order situation in Dhaka-18 (Greater Uttara) seat and we have conducted miking and campaigning against extortion in the seven police stations of Uttara.

On the other hand, Jahangir Hossain said that the office of the Water Development Board was the office of BNP for a long time in reference to the complaint of looting and occupation of a local newspaper office. They occupied it after Awami League came to power. But, after August 5, the office started using a newspaper office named Praner Bangladesh. Actually the place is not valid. Both the parties between whom there was trouble have settled the matter between themselves.

Meanwhile, SM Jahangir Hossain said in the press conference that baseless, fabricated and defamatory news has been presented against him in two or three newspapers, I have been discriminated here. The facts should have been verified before these allegations were published. Now I am giving judgment to your (journalists) conscience.
