Death of wife and mother-in-law due to electrocution in Harintana village of Dakop upazila

Wife and mother-in-law died due to electrocution in Harintana village of Dakop upazila in Khulna. They were electrocuted by rat traps in Dhankhet. This incident happened around 11 o’clock on Tuesday.

 

Deceased Chapla is the wife of Chittaranjan Gain and Tumpa Gain is the daughter-in-law of Harintana village of Loudob Union. Their bodies have been taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

It is known that a local man named Omantu keeps electric connection in the paddy fields to kill rats. On Tuesday morning, Chapla Gain (65) was electrocuted while picking vegetables in the paddy field and screamed. Hearing his screams, the son’s wife Tumpa Gain (36) came forward and she was also electrocuted. Two died on the spot.

Dakop Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Haque said two women died due to electrocution. The body has been sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
