A new chapter in Bangladesh's student politics began with the emergence of Nurul Haque Noor, popularly known as VP Noor. Nur was born in Galachipa upazila of Patuakhali district of Barisal division. His father Idris Hawladar is a businessman and former Union Parishad member and mother's name is Nilufa Begum. Noor is the second among three brothers and five sisters. Noor studied up to class 7 at Char Biswas Janata Secondary School in Patuakhali. He completed secondary school in 2010 from the science department of Golam Nabi Secondary School in Gazipur and higher secondary school in 2012 from Uttara High School and College in Dhaka and was admitted to the English Department of Dhaka University in the academic year 2013-14.

DUCSU Election and Victory

The name of Nurul Haque Noor was first discussed as a candidate for the post of VP in the 2019 Dhaka University Central Student Council (DUCSU) election. It was a huge challenge for him to contest as a candidate for the post of VP in this election held after 28 long years. Despite competing with ruling party candidates, Noor won the election by a landslide, which is considered a major event in Bangladesh's student politics. His victory proves that the desire for change is strong among the students.
