The National Board of Revenue (NBR) will begin pre-budget discussions on March 31. These meetings will be held consecutively with business organizations, economists, journalists, and other stakeholders and will continue until April 28 at the NBR headquarters in Agargaon, according to NBR sources.
Every year, NBR conducts these pre-budget consultations with stakeholders ahead of the national budget. During the meetings, representatives from various sectors present their proposals and arguments, which NBR officials review and consider. Many of these suggestions are often reflected in the final budget. After the pre-budget consultations, an advisory meeting on the 2026–27 fiscal year budget will take place on April 29.
Prior to the discussions, NBR had collected written budget proposals from business organizations. At the start of this month, NBR requested all organizations to submit their proposals by March 15.
NBR prepares revenue policies to guide the government’s budget planning. Through these consultations, the board aims to develop a participatory, inclusive, and equitable budget that reflects stakeholder input.
