The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), the central bank's financial intelligence agency, has summoned the bank accounts of 21 more journalists. On Sunday, January 5, the accounts of journalists, including Saiful Alam, editor of the daily Jugantor, Pranab Saha, news editor at DBC News, former Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Hasan Zahid Tushar, and several other senior journalists from major news outlets like Independent TV, Bangladesh Pratidin, and Khola Kagoj, were scrutinized. In addition to the journalists, the BFIU has also requested the bank account details of their privately owned companies. Earlier, the BFIU had summoned the bank accounts of 12 journalists and requested similar information about their personal companies.
