Bangladesh has received another shipment of 10,850 metric tons of rice from India, imported by the Directorate General of Food.
According to a press release issued on Thursday, April 3, by Imdad Islam, Senior Information Officer and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Food, the rice arrived at Chattogram Port aboard the vessel MV HT Unity. The shipment was imported under an international open tender agreement (Package-8).
The official stated that sample testing of the rice has already been completed, and unloading operations will begin shortly. Necessary preparations have been made to ensure a smooth process.
As part of the open tender agreement, Bangladesh has planned to import a total of 500,000 metric tons of rice from India. So far, contracts have been signed for 450,000 metric tons across nine packages. Of this, 306,769 metric tons have already reached Bangladesh.
