Following Donald Trump’s global trade war declaration, U.S. trade office OTEXA reported that among the top five apparel exporters to the United States, Bangladesh posted the highest growth in the first two months of this year. India followed closely behind. However, in terms of year-over-year performance through February, India ranked first.

During January and February, Bangladesh exported apparel worth $1.507 billion to the U.S., marking a 26.64% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Despite this impressive growth, Bangladesh remains the third-largest apparel supplier to the U.S. by market share.

India, one of Bangladesh’s key competitors in the global apparel market, recorded exports worth $955.5 million to the U.S. during the same period—up 25.7% from the previous year. For the full year up to February, India experienced the highest overall growth at 12.35%, placing it just ahead of Bangladesh by market share.

Vietnam, another Asian apparel hub, exported garments worth around $2.625 billion to the U.S. in the first two months of 2025—a year-over-year growth of 11.14%. With a market share of 19.38%, it held the second-largest position in the U.S. market.

China’s export growth was comparatively low, but it still maintained the top position in market share at 20.44%. In contrast, Indonesia saw a sharp decline of 18.27% in apparel exports to the U.S. during the period, although it retained the fifth spot in market share at 5.76%.
