An additional 10,000 metric tons of rice imported from India have arrived in Bangladesh, according to the Food Directorate. The rice was brought under an international open tender agreement (Package-8), and the MV Fu Thanh vessel carrying the rice has docked at the Port of Chittagong. Senior Information Officer and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Food, Imdad Islam, confirmed this information on Tuesday, April 15. He mentioned that the rice samples have already been tested, and unloading will begin soon as necessary arrangements have been made. This rice import is part of a larger deal to bring in 500,000 metric tons of rice from India, with agreements in place for 450,000 metric tons under nine packages. So far, 353,719 metric tons of rice have already arrived in the country.
