A fresh shipment of 12,500 metric tons of rice imported from Vietnam has arrived in Bangladesh, according to a press release from the Ministry of Food issued on Saturday, April 19. The rice was brought in by the Directorate General of Food under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement with Vietnam. The shipment, consisting of Atap (parboiled) rice, docked at Chattogram Port. Under the agreement, Bangladesh is set to import a total of 100,000 metric tons of rice, of which 72,700 tons have already been delivered. The press note added that quality checks of the newly arrived consignment have been completed, and unloading operations will begin shortly, with necessary preparations already in place.
