Bangladesh has continued discussions with the United States to finalize a reciprocal tariff agreement. The latest round of talks was held on Thursday, June 26, with Dr. Khaleelur Rahman, Bangladesh’s National Security Adviser, leading the delegation, and Brendan Lynch, Assistant U.S. Trade Representative, representing the U.S. side.
Following the meeting, Dr. Rahman described the dialogue as productive and stated that both countries are making sincere efforts to conclude the agreement soon.
Earlier, on April 2, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed counter-tariffs on several countries to reduce the trade deficit, with Bangladeshi goods facing a steep 37% additional duty. However, on April 9, the President suspended the tariff hike for three months, with the waiver set to expire on July 8.
