The government has extended the special executive magistracy authority of Armed Forces officers for another 60 days to assist in maintaining law and order across the country.
A circular issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday (September 11) stated that, beginning September 12, Armed Forces personnel will continue to exercise these powers for the next two months.
The authority was originally conferred on September 30 last year in the aftermath of the student-led mass movement and has since been renewed periodically.
According to the latest order, officers are empowered to take legal measures in connection with a range of offences covered under Sections 64, 65, 83, 84, 86, 95(2), 100, 105, 107, 109, 110, 126, 127, 128, 130, 133, and 142 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
