Rakib Takes the Lead for VP, Alim Ahead in GS Race After Results From 13 Centers

Results from 13 polling centres in the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JAKSU) election have been officially released.
The Election Commission began announcing the results at around 7:30am on Wednesday. According to the declared figures, A K M Rakib of the “United Fearless JnU” panel—formed by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Chhatra Adhikar Parishad and independent students—is leading in the vice-president (VP) race with 1,457 votes.
His closest challenger, Riazul Islam of the Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed “Indomitable JnU Unity” panel, has secured 1,359 votes so far.
In the contest for general secretary (GS), Abdul Alim Arif of the “Indomitable JnU Unity” panel is ahead with 1,437 votes. His nearest rival, Khadijatul Kubra from the “United Fearless JnU” panel, has received 724 votes.
For the assistant general secretary (AGS) position, Masud Rana of the “Indomitable JnU Unity” panel is currently leading with 1,346 votes, while Atikul Islam Tanjil of the “United Fearless JnU” panel trails with 1,160 votes.
The Election Commission said counting for the remaining units is still underway and results will be announced gradually.
Voting in the JAKSU and hall union elections took place on Tuesday across 39 centres and 178 booths.
So far, results have been declared from the Geography and Environment, Public Administration, Anthropology, Pharmacy, CSE, Genetic Engineering, Finance, Marketing, Microbiology, Philosophy and Biochemistry, Zoology departments, as well as the Faculty of Fine Arts centre.
Election Commissioners Zulfikar Mahmud, Anisur Rahman and Kaniz Fatema Kakoli are overseeing and announcing the results.
