Several voters faced difficulties at a women’s polling center at Dhanmondi Government Girls’ School in the capital after discrepancies were found between their voter numbers and the names and photographs listed at the center.

By around 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, at least eight voters who encountered this issue approached the presiding officer for assistance. However, the official was unable to provide a solution.

Jarin Ara, who came to cast her vote for the first time, said she had downloaded her voter number and polling station details from the official app before arriving. But upon reaching the center, she was told that her name and photograph did not match the information on the voter list. After speaking with the presiding officer, she was informed that nothing could be done in her case.

An elderly voter, Shirin Ahmed, reported facing the same problem. She said she had come with enthusiasm to cast her vote but was now in distress after discovering that her details did not match. She added that she was unsure what steps to take next.

Bilqis Nahar also described a similar experience. She said that after waiting so long for the opportunity to vote, she was disappointed to face complications, and no one could clearly explain how the matter would be resolved.

Presiding Officer Nur Hossain told reporters that the issue was not affecting everyone, but only certain voters. He said he had contacted Election Commission officials responsible for the matter and was informed that the voter list available at the center was updated. According to the instructions, if the details do not match, the vote cannot be accepted.

Despite the difficulties faced by some, other voters were seen leaving the center happily after casting their ballots. Some took selfies, while others arrived in groups with family members and took photos to mark the occasion.
