The government’s seven-day holiday for the holy festival of Eid-ul-Fitr began today, Tuesday. During this period, the metro rail operator, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), has issued a notice clarifying the service schedule—specifically which days trains will run and when they will remain suspended.
According to the announcement released by DMTCL on Monday, metro rail services will be suspended only on the day of Eid. From the following day onward, operations will resume and continue according to the regular timetable.
Based on moon sighting, Eid-ul-Fitr—one of the most significant religious festivals for Muslims—is expected to be observed on March 21. Taking this likely date into account, and including the holiday for Shab-e-Qadr on March 17, government employees are enjoying a continuous seven-day break this year.
