Two Bengali joint production film ‘Tufan’. The film was recently released on Eid in Bangladesh. This film has already made a profit of about 20 crores from the Bangladesh box office. Another actor who acted in Tufan is Loknath Dey. But he did not come to notice that way. According to Anandabazar sources, several of his scenes have been cut. However, Loknath said that he has no regrets about them, ‘In fact, if he does a good deed, he can float in joy, the adversities are not in his mind. I was also having problems with some dates, maybe some scenes were missing. But I am not thinking about that.

“The film director Raihan Rafi has made is commendable. This film has already set a precedent in Bangladesh. Many may find similarities with Bollywood films or draw comparisons with the southern film ‘KGF’. But ‘Toofan’ is definitely not that kind of big budget film. The canvas of Rafi’s thinking is big. What is liked, the director has used Bangladeshi star Shakib with Munshiana in this film, it deserves praise. He is happy with the success of ‘Toofan’. It is a pity Loknath that Kolkata film is not getting that much commercial success. Bangladeshi audience has a craze for Bengali films, which we don’t have here. So our picture here is a little bit cornered. But he is sure, the current picture will turn around. Loknath Dey thinks that if the commercial films of the mainstream are not successful, the future of the films of other genres is also dark.

Loknath said that he did not agree to work at first after reading the script of the film ‘Tufan’. At first he did not agree but later he changed his mind. Loknath said, ‘I have not seen Shakib’s picture before, but I have heard his name. Apart from this, actors like Chanchal Chowdhury, Fazlur Rahman are in the film. I did not want to miss the opportunity to work with them. So I agree to do the film. I thought, I did a job. But it is not that I have high hopes for my work; The film is good — I can say that.’

Asked if Shakib Khan’s charisma has surpassed the deva-jits of Bengal, Loknath Dey said, “Actually, the answer is yes and no.” Where Shakib Khan is in Bangladesh, I think he is between one and ten. In that place other actors are ‘backfooted’. But not so here. We have Jeet-Dev. They only have Shakib. As Jeet is trying. Dev is doing a different kind of film. The kind of pictures that I will make should be of importance to the heights that I have reached. Only then will the industry be better. However, he thinks that there should be more films in the joint production of the two countries at present.
Although he has worked with many Bangladeshi actors, panchmukh Loknath Dey said in praise of Musharraf Karim, “I think Musharraf Karim is one of the best actors in South Asia.”
