Henceforth, cash withdrawals cannot exceed Rs 2 lakh per day in a single account.
For the sake of security, Bangladesh Bank has fixed the maximum limit for cash withdrawal from the bank.
The Central Bank has informed the banks that this decision will be applicable till further instructions.
This instruction was given in an urgent message from Bangladesh Bank to the managing directors or MDs of the bank on Saturday night.
According to the guidelines, a customer can transfer any amount of money to another account and do digital transactions even if he cannot withdraw more than two lakhs in cash.
Earlier last Thursday, the customer could not withdraw more than one lakh rupees. It was said that instructions were given for Thursday only.
Besides, the central bank has ordered to stop disbursement of money from the head office to the branches for today. It is also advised to encourage customers to pay by check.
