Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter, Suhana Khan, recently opened up about her journey into acting. While she made her big-screen debut with Netflix’s The Archies, directed by Zoya Akhtar, she initially never considered acting as a career. It was a bitter experience during her school days that gradually changed her perspective.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar India, Suhana revealed that while in school, she once missed out on an acting opportunity and ended up sitting alone at home, crying. That moment made her realize just how important acting was to her.

From Stage Nervousness to Passion

Suhana shared that she was initially uncomfortable performing in school plays, often feeling awkward on stage and thinking of herself as a “strange creature.” However, during her time at boarding school, her feelings began to shift. She recalled auditioning for a lead role in a school play but being placed in the chorus instead.

“It was a turning point in my life,” she said. “I felt heartbroken and disappointed. I sat alone and cried. But that’s when I realized I truly wanted to play those characters—the thrill of being on stage drew me in.”

A Deep Sense of Responsibility to Acting

That experience helped Suhana recognize her deep emotional connection to acting and the creative process. When asked what inspires her most as an actress today, she said, “Curiosity, goals—these are important. But above all, it’s passion. The combination of these three drives me forward.”

Influence of Parents

Suhana also spoke about the role her parents, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, play in her life. She described them as her biggest support system, particularly when making major life decisions. Suhana admits she can be highly emotional and tends to overthink, but her parents help guide her back on track.

Shah Rukh often offers deep, philosophical advice, while Gauri is more pragmatic and straightforward. “I find balance between their differing perspectives,” Suhana said.

After stepping into the acting world with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies, Suhana will next be seen alongside her father in the upcoming film King.
