After three days of treatment in the hospital, renowned Bangladeshi singer Sabina Yasmin has returned home. According to musician Jahangir Said, she was discharged from the hospital around 12 PM today. Doctors confirmed that her condition is stable, and there are no significant health complications. However, she will need to rest for a while. Sabina Yasmin had recently returned to the stage after over a year, performing for an hour at a concert on Friday. Unfortunately, she fell ill during the performance and was rushed to a hospital. After initial treatment, she was sent home, but her condition worsened overnight, requiring another visit to a private hospital in Dhaka, where she has been receiving treatment.
Sabina Yasmin, born on September 4, 1954, in Dhaka, comes from a family deeply involved in music. Her father, Lutfor Rahman, and mother, Mauluda Khatun, were also musicians. Growing up in a cultural environment, her five sisters, including Farida Yasmin, Fauzia Khan, and Nilufar Yasmin, also pursued music. Sabina's musical career spans over six decades, starting at the age of seven when she first performed on stage. In 1962, she made her debut as a child artist in the movie Notun Sur. Her playback singing debut came in 1967 with the film Agun Niye Khela. Over the years, she has worked with iconic composers like R.D. Burman, Hemant Mukhopadhyay, Subal Das, and Alam Khan, lending her voice to countless hit songs.
Apart from performing alongside legendary artists such as Shyamal Mitra, Kumar Sanu, and Asha Bhosle, she has recorded over 10,000 songs. One of her famous patriotic songs, Janma Amar Dhonno Holo Mago, written by Nayem Gohar and composed by Azad Rahman, inspired freedom fighters during the 1971 Liberation War. Sabina Yasmin's contribution to the music industry has earned her prestigious awards, including the Ekushey Padak in 1984, the Independence Award in 1996, and the National Film Award 14 times. Additionally, she has a degree in Sociology from Dhaka University.
