Actress Pori Moni has been sued in a Dhaka court on charges of domestic abuse filed by her former housemaid, Pinky Akter. The complaint was submitted on Tuesday (April 22) to the Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Nazmin Akter, naming Pori Moni as the prime accused and a man named Sourav as the second.
According to the complaint, Pinky began working at Pori Moni’s residence in March 2024 through a domestic help agency. Though she was initially hired to look after one child, she alleges she was tasked with caring for two children and cooking for the household. On April 2, the situation reportedly escalated when Pori Moni, allegedly under the influence of drugs, verbally abused and physically assaulted Pinky, leading to her losing consciousness. Pinky also claims that when she regained consciousness and requested medical attention, Sourav prevented her from leaving and encouraged further abuse.
Pinky eventually managed to call emergency services using 999 and received treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital. She filed a general diary with Vatara Police Station on April 4. Due to a lack of follow-up, she proceeded with a formal case in court.
The charges, filed under Sections 323, 324, 307, 506, and 34 of the Penal Code, are being investigated by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI). The court has directed PBI to submit a report by May 8.
Currently, Pori Moni is reportedly in Cox’s Bazar with her family.
