A contract worker at the Uttar Pradesh Power Department in Saharanpur, India, was dismissed after allegedly raising the Palestinian flag on Eid day. According to a PTI report published on Sunday (April 6), the incident came to light when photos of the flag being hoisted went viral on social media.
Officials claim that Saqib Khan, who was stationed at the Kailaspur Power House, raised the flag after performing Eid prayers on March 31. Quoting Executive Engineer Sanjeev Kumar, PTI reported that the act was considered “anti-national” by the department, prompting immediate disciplinary action. The power department instructed the contractor company to terminate Saqib Khan's employment following the incident.
