Israel Ready to Strike Iran Alone if Needed, Officials Tell US

Israeli defense officials have recently informed their US counterparts that Iran’s ballistic missile program poses a direct threat to Israel’s survival and that Israel is prepared to act independently against Tehran if necessary, according to security sources cited by Israeli media. One source said Israel has clearly communicated its “red line” to Washington, warning that if Iran crosses a certain threshold in developing its ballistic missile capabilities, Israel would launch unilateral military action. While Israeli assessments suggest Iran has not yet crossed that line, officials are closely monitoring rapid developments inside the country. The sources added that Israel has discussed plans with US officials during several high-level meetings to strike key elements of Iran’s missile production and infrastructure. An Israeli defense official described the current moment as a rare opportunity to significantly damage Iran’s missile network and reduce threats to Israel and neighboring states. However, some officials expressed concern that US President Donald Trump might opt for limited, symbolic strikes—similar to recent US actions against the Houthis in Yemen—which they fear would leave Iran’s most critical capabilities intact. One military official warned that such partial action could allow Washington to declare success while leaving Israel to manage the long-term consequences, arguing that limited attacks would fail to eliminate what Israel views as the core threat.
