After a month of fasting during Ramadan, the holy month is soon coming to an end, and, depending on the sighting of the moon, the Muslim world will celebrate Eid al-Fitr. Australia has declared itself the first country to announce the date for Eid al-Fitr, which will be celebrated on Monday, March 31st. The Australian Fatwa Council announced the date on Saturday, March 29th, as reported by Khaleej Times.
Due to its geographical location, Australia is typically the first to declare the start of Ramadan and the date for Eid. The council based its decision on an analysis of the likelihood of sighting the moon for the month of Shawwal, taking into account data and the moon's birth before sunset, the moon's duration after sunset, and the possibility of sighting it. This method is adopted by several well-known Fatwa councils. As the new moon will occur after sunset, the first day of Shawwal cannot be the following day.
According to the council, the new moon of Shawwal will be born at 9:57 PM on Saturday, March 29th, but will be visible on Sunday, March 30th. Therefore, Ramadan will last for 30 days, and Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday. Based on this, Eid al-Fitr is expected to be celebrated in Bangladesh on Tuesday, April 1st, but it will depend on the moon sighting.
