Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman has announced his intention to resign from his post to contest in the 13th National Parliamentary Election from the Jhenaidah-1 constituency.
Speaking to reporters at his office on Wednesday afternoon, Asaduzzaman said, “I will run for election. I have sought nomination there. I am still serving as Attorney General, but I will step down from the post when the time comes to participate in the polls.”
When asked who might replace him, he replied, “Whoever the people of Bangladesh consider suitable.”
Md. Asaduzzaman, a senior Supreme Court lawyer, was appointed as the Attorney General of Bangladesh on August 8 last year. Before that, he served as the Human Rights Affairs Secretary of the BNP.
