Addressing newly recruited Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) soldiers, Advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, urged them to defend the nation’s sovereignty at all costs. He stated, “You must never allow even an inch of our land to fall into enemy hands, even at the expense of your lives.”
The advisor made these remarks on Tuesday, December 31, during a ceremony at the Border Guard Training Center and College in Satkania, Chattogram. Emphasizing unwavering dedication, he exhorted the soldiers to stand firm against adversaries, adding, “Your steadfast vigilance ensures the peace and security of our citizens. You are the symbol of trust and protection along our borders.”
He highlighted the exceptional contribution of BGB, often referred to as the "Vigilant Sentinels of the Borders," in safeguarding the 4,427 km-long borders and securing national resources with diligence and success. Applauding the recruits’ spirited parade, he credited their outstanding performance to rigorous training, tireless efforts, and unyielding commitment. “Your integrity, discipline, and professionalism will shape the image and pride of this force as you carry out your duties,” he said.
The event marked the conclusion of the 23-week-long intensive basic training for the 102nd recruit batch. Out of 695 recruits, 649 men and 46 women successfully completed the program, officially beginning their journey as BGB soldiers with a formal oath and passing-out parade. The ceremony was attended by senior military and civilian officials, including BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashraful Islam Siddique.
