After fasting for 13 to 14 hours, it is essential to provide the body with proper nutrition and adequate hydration. In many traditional Iftar settings, foods like fried eggplant fritters, onion pakoras, and potato chops are commonly served. However, consuming these oily and spicy items on an empty stomach can increase acidity and lead to digestive discomfort.
To reduce fatigue and quickly restore energy, yogurt mixed with flattened rice (chira) can be a healthier and more balanced option for Iftar. According to nutrition experts, it is one of the best choices during Ramadan for keeping the stomach cool and replenishing energy efficiently.
Flattened rice is made from processed rice and is easy to digest. It is rich in carbohydrates, which quickly convert into glucose and provide an instant energy boost. Yogurt, on the other hand, is a natural probiotic and an excellent source of protein and calcium.
Nutritionists also suggest that sour yogurt is more beneficial than sweet yogurt during Iftar. It helps speed up digestion and can reduce gastric issues. The combination of yogurt and chira not only satisfies hunger but also helps restore the body’s fluid balance and prevents dehydration.
Additionally, flattened rice is low in potassium and sodium, making it a safer option for individuals with kidney-related concerns. Its low fiber content can also be helpful for those dealing with intestinal inflammation, ulcerative colitis, or diarrhea.
