The High Court has acquitted former State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar and all other accused in the 10-truck arms smuggling case, clearing the way for Babar's release.
The verdict was delivered today by a bench comprising Justice Mostafa Zaman Islam and Justice Nasreen Akhter following hearings on the appeals filed by the accused. Representing the state, Deputy Attorney General Sultana Akter Ruby and Assistant Attorney General Md. Asif Imran Zisan argued the case, while senior lawyer SM Shahjahan appeared for the defendants.
On December 18, the High Court acquitted Babar, Mohsin Talukder, Enamul Haque, Rajjakul Haidar, and three others in connection with the high-profile case of arms smuggling in Chattogram.
