British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Sarah Cooke, stated that the United Kingdom supports a fair, impartial, and inclusive election in Bangladesh and is willing to provide any necessary assistance.
She made these remarks on Monday, March 10, after a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin at the Election Commission office in Agargaon, Dhaka.
According to Cooke, the discussions were productive, focusing on the upcoming elections. She reiterated the UK’s commitment to standing by Bangladesh to ensure a credible electoral process.
Meanwhile, the CEC mentioned that the British High Commissioner inquired about the preparations for the national elections and expressed willingness to assist. He also briefed her on the Election Commission’s ongoing initiatives.
Additionally, he highlighted plans to revise election observers and address procurement matters, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the election timeline set for December.
