Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has said that the Bangladesh Army is fully prepared to do whatever it takes to uphold communal harmony in the country. Speaking on Sunday morning at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the "Shompriti Bhaban" at the International Buddhist Monastery in Merul Badda, Dhaka, he emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence among all communities regardless of religion or ethnicity.
"We have always strived to live in harmony with people of all faiths and backgrounds. This has been a long-standing tradition, and we are committed to continuing this legacy," he said.
The Army Chief added that the country belongs to everyone, and fostering unity is a shared responsibility. He particularly highlighted the role of the military in maintaining peace in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, reaffirming their readiness to take any necessary steps.
"We don't want hatred or division. The Army is ready to do everything needed to preserve peace and harmony in the nation," he stated.
