Power imports from Adani Power Limited's plant in India to Bangladesh dropped by nearly 33% in November, according to Indian government data cited by Reuters. The supply from the 1,600 MW power plant in Godda, Jharkhand, was abruptly reduced last month due to a dispute over outstanding payments. Constructed at a cost of $2 billion, the plant is dedicated to supplying electricity solely to Bangladesh under a long-term agreement.

The company signed a 25-year power purchase deal with Bangladesh in 2017 during the tenure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Adani Power had been supplying electricity to Bangladesh at one of the highest rates, contributing about 9% of the country's power supply in the 12 months leading up to Sheikh Hasina's departure from office. However, amid a foreign currency shortage, Bangladesh requested a renegotiation of electricity prices.

Data from India's Central Electricity Ministry’s Regional Power Committee revealed that power exports from the Godda plant to Bangladesh fell to 450 million kilowatt-hours in November, a 32.8% year-on-year decline. This marks the largest drop in electricity exports from Adani to Bangladesh to date.
