The scorching sun has been relentless all day, with a mild heatwave sweeping across the western regions of the country. The intense heat combined with high humidity has made both urban and rural areas equally uncomfortable, offering little relief anywhere. Meteorologists predict that these sweltering conditions are likely to persist for another two to three days.
Despite the summer season nearing its end, the heat shows no signs of easing. In places like Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, and Nilphamari, temperatures have climbed to around 37°C, making it feel as though the sun’s heat is radiating like an open furnace.
Speaking to Somoy Sangbad, meteorologist Khondokar Hafizur Rahman explained that the high moisture content in the air is intensifying the heat, causing people to sweat continuously even without rainfall. This sticky, oppressive sensation is expected to linger throughout the day for the next few days.
Although some parts of the country have recently experienced rain, it has provided only brief, superficial relief, failing to bring a significant drop in temperature.
Hafizur Rahman also mentioned that rain is likely in southern regions within the next 24 hours, with further showers expected across other areas by Sunday or Monday. While this may slightly lower temperatures, the persistent humidity means that the discomfort is unlikely to disappear entirely.
