Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman emphasized that newly commissioned officers must always be ready to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty, driven by values of honesty, discipline, and self-sacrifice. He made these remarks on Sunday (June 22) while addressing the Summer Presidential Parade of the Bangladesh Navy at the Chattogram Naval Academy.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman highlighted that the Bangladesh Navy has now evolved into a modern, technology-driven, and three-dimensional force capable of meeting 21st-century challenges. He noted the Navy’s vital role in protecting the country's maritime sovereignty, safeguarding marine resources, combating maritime crimes, and ensuring good governance at sea.
The parade began with the Army Chief inspecting the formations from a ceremonial jeep, followed by salutes from eight platoons of newly commissioned officers. He later presented awards to top performers who excelled during their rigorous training.
A total of 52 newly commissioned naval officers officially joined the ranks during the ceremony, including 44 midshipmen and 8 direct entry officers. Among them were 8 female officers and 4 foreign naval officers.
Senior officials from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as high-ranking government representatives, local dignitaries, and the families of the new officers, were present at the event.
