The government has withdrawn its earlier decision to observe "New Bangladesh Day" on August 8. However, the Advisory Council has approved the observance of "Mass Uprising Day" on August 5 and "July Martyrs' Day" on July 16. These decisions were made during a council meeting held on Sunday, June 29, at the Chief Advisor’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka. Previously, on June 25, the Cabinet Division had issued a circular declaring August 8 as "New Bangladesh Day" and July 16 as "Shaheed Abu Sayeed Day." Ministries, departments, and agencies were asked to observe these days accordingly, and the events were classified under Category B of national and international observance guidelines.
