
Two more people have died from dengue fever in the past 24 hours, bringing this year’s death toll from the disease to 86, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest fatalities occurred in the Barishal and Chittagong divisions, outside of city corporation areas.
During the same period, 395 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, raising the total number of confirmed cases in 2025 to 22,065.
The DGHS breakdown of newly reported cases is as follows:
Barishal Division (outside city corporations): 58
Chittagong Division (outside city corporations): 61
Dhaka Division (outside city corporations): 69
Dhaka North City Corporation: 34
Dhaka South City Corporation: 50
Khulna Division (outside city corporations): 56
Mymensingh Division: 6
Rajshahi Division (outside city corporations): 48
Rangpur Division (outside city corporations): 9
Sylhet Division: 4
As of Monday morning, a total of 1,235 dengue patients were undergoing treatment at hospitals nationwide.
In comparison, last year saw a significantly higher number of cases and deaths. The DGHS recorded 101,214 dengue infections and 575 fatalities in 2024, with 100,040 patients recovering.
Health authorities continue to urge the public to take preventive measures and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms appear.
