Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin stated on Saturday that the Election Commission (EC) is actively preparing to conduct the next national election within a limited timeframe, despite facing various challenges.

Speaking at a consultation meeting on the national election held at the EC’s Rangpur regional office, Nasir highlighted the pressing need to rebuild public trust in the election process.

“Restoring faith in the electoral system remains a significant challenge. Many people have lost confidence, and encouraging voter turnout will require considerable effort,” he remarked.

Regarding the announcement of the election schedule, the CEC indicated that it will not be released immediately.

“The election date will be made public approximately two months prior to the election,” he explained.

Nasir Uddin emphasized that the Election Commission will maintain neutrality and will not favor any political party.

“Our commitment is to serve all 180 million citizens of the country. We are also addressing misinformation spread via social media and artificial intelligence,” he added.

Urging citizens to exercise their right to vote, he described voting as both a civic duty and a moral responsibility.

The CEC reaffirmed that the commission is working diligently to ensure the forthcoming parliamentary elections are conducted with maximum transparency.
