The Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday (19 August) issued a circular announcing higher welfare grants for government employees, following a proposal from the Bangladesh Employees Welfare Board and approval from the Ministry of Finance.

According to the notification:

• Financial assistance for treatment of complex and costly diseases has been raised from BDT 200,000 to BDT 300,000.

• General medical support has been increased from BDT 40,000 to BDT 60,000.

In addition:

• Funeral grants for employees have been revised from BDT 30,000 to BDT 50,000, while assistance for family members has been raised from BDT 10,000 to BDT 20,000.

• The one-time payment under group insurance has been increased from BDT 200,000 to BDT 300,000.

• Monthly welfare allowance has been enhanced from BDT 2,000 to BDT 3,000.

The circular emphasized that these grants must be covered within allocated funds and internal resources, with no scope for additional allocations. It also stated that eligibility must be ensured, and all financial regulations must be strictly followed.
