Heavy Rainfall Soaks Dhaka Monday Mornin
Dhaka recorded 71 mm of rain within just three hours on Monday morning, following showers that had already begun late Sunday night. The intensity increased at dawn, leaving many city roads submerged.
Commuter Struggles Across the City
Office-goers faced major difficulties as waterlogging spread across key areas including Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur, Karwan Bazar, Green Road, New Market, and Motijheel. In several places, water levels rose from knee-deep to waist-high.
Wider Rainfall Across the Country
Not only the capital but other regions of Bangladesh also saw significant rainfall. According to the Meteorological Department, Dhaka received 105 mm of rain between midnight and 9 a.m., while Feni recorded the highest at 116 mm in the past 24 hours.
Weather Outlook
Meteorologists explained the showers were triggered by seasonal monsoon winds. A low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal, with another system expected around Wednesday. While heavy rain may hit coastal regions, its overall impact on Bangladesh is predicted to be limited.
