Six killed as truck and autorickshaw collide head-on in Noakhali

Six people were killed in a tragic collision between a passenger autorickshaw and a truck in Kabirhat upazila of Noakhali on Tuesday afternoon. The accident took place around 2:30 p.m. in front of Kabirhat Alim Madrasa on the Sonapur–Companyganj road.

The deceased were identified as autorickshaw driver Shah Alam, Noakhali College students Tanim Hasan and Israt Jahan, and passengers Bibi Kulsum, Jannat, and Md. Suman.

According to police and local sources, the autorickshaw was heading toward Basurhat in Companyganj from Kabirhat Bazar when it collided head-on with a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction. The impact left the autorickshaw completely mangled, killing the driver and two passengers on the spot. Three others died after being taken to the hospital.

Kabirhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shahin Mia confirmed the incident, saying that six people—including three men and three women—were killed in the crash. He added that police have seized both vehicles involved and that further legal actions will be taken based on complaints.
