The Shuchona Memorial Trust has officially launched its journey today, with a mission to expand healthcare, promote education, and strengthen humanitarian services.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the historic Sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage in Dhaka, where the Trust presented its vision, future plans, and commitment to social welfare.

The event was formally opened by Mustakim Muhammad Nirvik, the only son of the late Shuchona Akhter Rokeya, on behalf of Saurav Bhuiyan, Chief Executive Officer of the Daily Manabkantha.

Special guest Professor Dr. A.H.M. Omar Faruk (MBBS, MPhil–Pathology), Consultant Pathologist at Holy Family Hospital and specialist at Anwar Khan Modern Diagnostic Center, joined the ceremony.

Al Baru Mustakim Nibir, founder of the Trust and reporter at the Daily Manabkantha Crime & Investigation Cell, shared that the organization has been established in loving memory of his late wife, Shuchona Akhter Rokeya. He emphasized that women’s health, TB care, maternal and child health, and the upliftment of marginalized communities will be the Trust’s core priorities.

The Trust’s inaugural program coincided with the birth anniversary of the late Shuchona Akhter Rokeya on Friday, 14 November. The ceremony featured prayers, cake cutting, and a discussion session from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

During the event, the Shuchona Memorial Trust took responsibility for providing healthcare support to all the children living in the orphanage. The orphanage authorities expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Trust’s founder, journalist Mustakim Nibir.

Essential medicines were also distributed among the orphaned children as part of the opening program.

Guests expressed optimism that the Trust would play a significant role in providing treatment for the poor, advancing women’s health, and improving child healthcare—particularly in expanding access to TB treatment nationwide.
