Israeli intelligence sources are claiming that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been killed in attacks allegedly carried out by Israel and the United States. Citing those sources, Reuters and Israel’s Channel 12 reported that Khamenei had died.

However, two Iranian news agencies, Tasnim News and Mehr News, have rejected those claims. They state that the Supreme Leader is still alive and continues to direct the war effort with determination.

Al Jazeera has noted that the reports circulating in Israeli and international outlets sharply contradict the accounts published by Iranian media.

Earlier, Channel 12 reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had been shown images said to be of Khamenei’s body. The report claimed he was killed inside his palace compound and that Iranian rescue teams later recovered his remains.

Meanwhile, on Saturday morning, Israel and the United States reportedly launched a major strike targeting Khamenei’s residence. The New York Times later released a satellite image that appeared to show the palace completely destroyed and reduced to rubble.
