A woman at the protest said, “We once fought against the rule of kings and stood up for freedom. Now, we are doing that again.”

Crowds gathered at the National Mall in Washington, chanting in support of democracy while holding signs opposing Trump.

In Maryland, a group of elderly protesters in wheelchairs joined the demonstration, raising placards that read “Stand against authoritarianism,” “Speak up for democracy,” and “Time for Trump to go.”

In New York, prominent figures—including Hollywood actor Robert De Niro, Attorney General Letitia James, and veteran activist Al Sharpton—took part in the “No Kings” protests on March 28, 2026.

Thousands attended a rally in Dallas, where clashes broke out between “No Kings” demonstrators and opposing groups.

In Los Angeles, retiree Teresa Gane said she joined the protest because it is important for everyone to stand against authoritarianism, fascism, and greed. She added that, in her view, Trump’s actions are aimed at increasing his own wealth at the expense of ordinary Americans.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security reported that about 1,000 individuals surrounded a federal building, with two people arrested for allegedly attacking federal officers.

The Los Angeles Police Department also said several protesters were detained for refusing to leave areas near a federal detention facility. Authorities used tear gas to disperse the crowd after some demonstrators threw objects, including bricks, over a barrier.
