According to the recently submitted audit report, Jamaat-e-Islami revealed an income of Tk 28.97 crore for the year 2024, the highest among all registered political parties. However, the party did not maintain any bank accounts for managing its financial transactions.

Earlier, on July 27, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) submitted its audited income and expenditure statement for the same period. The BNP reported a total income of Tk 15.65 crore and expenditures of Tk 4.8 crore between January 1 and December 31, 2024, leaving a surplus of Tk 10.85 crore, which was deposited in bank accounts.

Under the Representation of the People Order (RPO) of 1972, all registered political parties in Bangladesh are required to submit audited financial reports for the previous calendar year to the Election Commission (EC) by July each year. Currently, there are 50 registered political parties in the country, of which 22 missed the deadline, and 10 parties requested extensions. By July 31, 28 parties had submitted their audit reports.

Among these, Jamaat reported the highest income and expenditure. For comparison, the Jatiya Party declared an income of Tk 2.64 crore with expenditures of Tk 1.79 crore and a bank balance of Tk 84.50 lakh. Amar Bangladesh Party reported Tk 1.37 crore in income, while Gono Odhikar Parishad declared Tk 46 lakh.

Details of Jamaat’s Income

Jamaat’s audit showed earnings of Tk 16.56 crore from membership fees and contributions from workers. Donations from the executive committee, advisory council, and other sources totaled Tk 37.87 lakh. Grants from various individuals and organizations contributed Tk 11.86 crore. Income from sales of party publications, magazines, and books amounted to Tk 9.11 lakh. Other donations added Tk 7.21 lakh, bringing total income to Tk 28.97 crore.

Breakdown of Jamaat’s Expenditure

The party’s largest expense was salaries, allowances, and bonuses for members and workers, totaling Tk 6.58 crore. Administrative and housing costs amounted to Tk 26.87 lakh. Utility bills—including electricity, water, and gas—were Tk 2.46 lakh. Communication expenses, such as postal, telephone, internet, courier services, and newspapers, reached Tk 8.45 lakh. Hospitality costs were Tk 10.96 lakh.

Campaigning and transportation expenses were reported at Tk 2.70 crore, while travel costs were Tk 1.27 crore. Expenses related to public meetings, rallies, and small gatherings amounted to Tk 19.39 lakh. Donations to election candidates totaled Tk 11.05 crore. Religious event costs stood at Tk 32.77 lakh. Miscellaneous expenses came to Tk 1.13 crore, leading to total expenditures of Tk 23.73 crore.
