A fire broke out at a shoe showroom in Balaka Shopping Complex, located in the capital’s New Market area, on Thursday morning (September 4). Two firefighting units quickly responded and managed to bring the blaze under control.

According to a statement from the Fire Service, officials received the alert at 8:10 am and rushed to the scene by 8:15 am. After about half an hour of effort, the fire was extinguished.

Preliminary investigations suggest the fire originated from an electrical fault.
