
A report released by the Road Safety Foundation on Saturday revealed that in September, Bangladesh witnessed 446 road crashes, leaving 417 people dead and 682 injured.
Motorcycles were the most affected vehicles, accounting for 151 crashes (33.85%) and causing the deaths of 143 individuals (34.29% of the total fatalities).
The report also highlighted other transport-related casualties:
Railways: 29 train-related accidents resulted in 27 deaths and 13 injuries.
Waterways: 17 incidents on rivers and canals left 21 people dead, while six others remained unaccounted for.
Among those killed in road accidents were 47 children, 56 transport workers (including drivers), and 49 students.
The monthly statistics were compiled by analyzing accident coverage from various media outlets, the foundation said in its press release.
