The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has received a response from the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding its decision not to travel to India for the T20 World Cup due to security concerns. According to a BCB press release, the ICC has reiterated its commitment to ensuring Bangladesh’s full and uninterrupted participation in the tournament.
The press release states that the ICC has expressed its willingness to work closely with the BCB to address its concerns and has assured that the board’s input on the tournament’s detailed security plans will be welcomed and given due consideration.
Earlier, ESPNcricinfo reported that the ICC had told the BCB that Bangladesh must travel to India to participate in the T20 World Cup. The BCB has strongly denied this claim.
The board’s statement clarified, “Reports in certain media outlets suggesting that the board was given an ‘ultimatum’ are completely unfounded, fabricated, and false. There is no similarity between such reports and the actual content or nature of the message received from the ICC.”
Regarding its future approach, the BCB emphasized, “The board remains steadfast in prioritizing the safety and security of the national team and its players. To ensure the team’s successful and comfortable participation in the 2026 T20 World Cup, the BCB will continue constructive and professional discussions with the ICC and relevant authorities to find a satisfactory and realistic solution.”
