Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has spoken of tough stance against Bandarban attack and bank robbers. Going there on Saturday, the minister said, “It is not desirable that they will enter with weapons and clothes, and our security forces will sit there.” I will be strict about this. I will not allow the law to be broken in any way.

Home Minister visited the scene in front of Ruma Upazila office in Bandarban at noon. Later he spoke to reporters. The minister said, ‘Peace loving people live in this area. We didn’t think anything like that would happen here. An investigation is being conducted as to why it happened suddenly.

The home minister said that till now the government thinks that this attack was done to collect money. He said, ‘Who did it, who had cooperation – everything will be found out. We are looking into everything.’

After three consecutive days of several attacks, bank robberies, abductions, shootings and looting of weapons, law enforcement agencies are going to launch a joint operation against the armed group KNF in Bandarban. Asked about the joint operation, the Home Minister told reporters, “We have security forces, armed forces.” They will act as they should. We will trace their origin.’

Responding to the questions of the journalists whether there was any intelligence information about the robbery and attack of the bank, the home minister said that the government will look into whether there is any negligence or not.

Home Minister Ruma spoke to the Ansar members who are in charge of the security of the office of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer. The eyewitnesses of the incident that day searched for Ansar members. Then he spoke to the imam of the neighboring mosque and the eyewitnesses of the incident. Later, Sonali visited Bank Ruma branch. An attempt was made to loot 1 crore 59 lakh rupees by breaking the vault of this branch. The minister later left for Bandarban Sadar.

Security has been beefed up in Ruma area of Bandarban since morning around the minister’s arrival. Police and Ansar members were seen standing guard at every corner of the road.
