30,000 people from 25 villages celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr in Madaripur along with Middle Eastern countries including Saudi Arabia. The largest congregation of the district was held in the government primary school ground of Taluk village of Kalikapur union of Sadar upazila.

There, Imam Maulana Siddiqur Rahman of Maulvi Bari Mosque of Taluk village led the main Eid congregation at 9:30 am on Wednesday. After praying, they shared the joy of Eid with each other.

It is known that the followers of Hazrat Jan Sharif Shah Sureshwari (R.H.), the founder of Sureshwar Darbar Sharif, have been fasting in accordance with Saudi Arabia and the Middle East and have been observing Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha since about 150 years ago. In accordance with the moon sighting in Madaripur sadar upazila Charkalikapur, Mahiserchar, East Panchkhola, Jajira, Katla Baherchar, Talluk, Chargobindpur, Pakhira, Khwajpur, Daulatpur, Kalikapur, Hosnabad, Raghurampur, Angulkata, Hazambari, Baherchar, Keranirbat, People of 25 villages of the district including Ramjanpur, Kaaria, Ramarpool, Sahebrampur, Underchar, Khaserhat are celebrating Eid festival.

Murid of Sureshwar Darbar Sharif. Iqbal Sardar said that for about one and a half hundred years, fasting and Eid are celebrated together with the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia. This is how the devout Muslims have been celebrating two Eid festivals in a year. The biggest congregation of the district is held in Talluk village of Sadar Upazila. Hundreds of people have performed Eid prayers together there.
