The light of fire was coming out of the afternoon sun. If I stood for a while in such sun, I felt like getting blisters on my body. Although the temperature dropped by 2 degrees Celsius compared to the previous day in the capital yesterday, the suffering of heat did not ease. Meteorologists say that the increased humidity or water vapor in the air has increased the discomfort in the heat.

Yesterday, the air humidity in the country was 87 percent. Because of this, the uncomfortable feeling of heat has been felt in almost half of the country.
If the humidity is more than 50 percent, it creates sweat and sticky heat on the body along with water vapor. Meteorologists say, usually during this time of summer, the air humidity is between 20 and 30 percent. As a result, even if the temperature rises, it is not too difficult for people living in tree-covered areas. Humidity is likely to increase further on Thursday.

Shahinur Islam, a meteorologist of the Directorate of Meteorology told media, that the heat wave that is flowing in many areas of the country may decrease a little today. Temperatures may drop slightly in many areas. But there is no possibility of reducing heat stress due to increase in humidity. This situation may continue for the next three-four days.
According to the observations of the Meteorological Department, the highest temperature in the country yesterday was 40.8 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga. The maximum temperature in the capital was 36.3 degrees Celsius. Intense heat wave is blowing over Rajshahi, Pabna, Jessore, Chuadanga, Kushtia and mild to moderate over Dhaka, Rangpur, Barisal, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions.

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, thundershowers with gusty winds may occur at some places in Dhaka, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions today. Somewhere there may be Kalbaisakhi.

Instructions to slow down

According to Bangladesh Railway sources, the temperature in the country’s railway lines is reaching 50 degrees Celsius or more in the current summer. There is a danger of bending the line somewhere. For this, the authorities have given instructions to run trains at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour, considering the location and the age of the railway line.
