Fishermen of a trawler have caught 92 lakha fish in two nets in the Bay of Bengal. The fish was sold to a wholesaler for Tk 20 lakh at Parerhat fish landing center in Pirojpur on Friday. Then the fish are sent to Chittagong.

 

Abu Ali, dealer of Parerhat fishing port, said 92 lakha fish were sold for Tk 20 lakh. But the price of the fish will be higher in the retail market.

According to local fishermen, recently a trawler belonging to Dular Fakir of East Charbaleshwar village of Indurkani upazila went to the Bay of Bengal for fishing. Going there, the fishermen threw their nets into the sea twice and got 92 lakha fish. Each lakh fish weighs 7 to 20 kg. After catching the precious lakhs of fish, the fishermen come from the sea to the Paderhat fish landing station. On hearing the news, a fish trader bought the fish for Tk 20 lakh on Friday. Later it was sent to Chittagong.

 

The owner of the trawler. Dular Fakir said, “It usually takes two weeks for fishermen to return after catching fish in the Bay of Bengal. My trawler returned with fish worth Tk 2 million in just five days. Several times in a row my trawlers were sent out to sea and lost. By getting good fish this time, I was able to make up for the previous loss.

General Secretary of Paderhat Fishing Port Business Association. Iqbal Hossain said, the fish were sent to Chittagong after being sold to the wholesaler at Parerhat fish landing center on Friday morning. The demand and price of lac fish is higher than other fish.
